Ukraine and Sweden have signed memorandum of
intentions for cooperation between representatives of local self-government
bodies of Ukraine and EcoEnergy
Scandinavia AB and BiogasProm. In the presence of the
Head of Ukrainian Government Yulia Tymoshenko from EcoEnergy
company the document was signed by Head of Board of EcoEnergy Scandinavia AB Lars Guldstrand and
managing director of BiogasProm Valentyn
Makogon. The document was also signed by
representatives of local self-government bodies of Ukraine, in particular, heads of local
councils.
As the
Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko stressed following the ceremony, Ukraine and Sweden are launching a project of garbage
utilization, development of alternative energy sources and improvement of
environment. The Head of Government added Swedish companies possess one of most
significant experiences in the world and are invest Eur
700 million into the garbage utilization project.
The Premier
reminded the Gov’t had devised a series of state programs for modernization of
boiler economy, water supply and water purification systems, reprocessing of
dumps. Also, according to her, respective protective laws have already come in
force in Ukraine which would enable
companies-investors to rely on overall support of the state and certain tax
vacations.
In his turn,
the head of board of EcoEnergy company of Sweden Lars Guldstrand
has positively evaluated efforts of the Government of Ukraine in the ability to
create energy independence of the country and improve the state of environment:
“Such concern of the Government and personally of the Prime Minister is very
significant for us, as it gives us more confidence we will have chance to cooperate
along these projects”.
He stressed
this autumn EcoEnergy AB plans to start realization of two
investment garbage reprocessing projects. In addition, he said, total sum of
investments into the mentioned projects will amount Eur
20 billion and today’s agreement in drawing Eur 700
million is only the first step: “The projects we have launched in synergy will
be among the most impressive and large programs which are to facilitate use of
renewable energy in Europe”.
