The Government has backed up the draft Order on the use of alternative kinds of fuel – straw and wood in the Sumy region, at a special sitting.

As Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko said, the use of alternative kinds of vegetative fuel, in particular, the straw and wood is determinant for Ukraine, as it allows to replace the big volume of traditional energy resources.

With this purpose, the Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Industry have been commissioned to study within one month, what enterprises are capable to produce facilities of straw and wood briquetting for using them in special boilers and also to study what plants are capable to produce these boilers.

Yulia Tymoshenko emphasized the importance of introducing the pilot projects of alternative energy in separate regions for their further improvement and selling in all regions of Ukraine. In particular, according to the Prime Minister, the Government has determined the Sumy region the first region which implements the pilot project on the use of alternative kinds of fuel. According to her, the next region for introducing such technologies will be determined at every Government’s sitting. Thus, on next Thursday the Government will determine a region for implementing the project on introducing the energy saving technologies with the use of biogas.

Besides, Yulia Tymoshenko told, according to the approved Order today, the Government had commissioned the profile ministries and National Electricity Regulatory Commission of Ukraine to prepare a draft decision on introducing a 2 percent bonus for selling oil and natural gas meant for the Stabilization Fund, to use these means for reducing credit interests later on which will be granted against projects on energy saving.
