BIO energy

In the light of the recent developments on the energy market and strategic re-orientation of national economies towards the use of bio energy, alternative fuels and energy saving technologies, FGL Energy pays more attention to the development of these types of projects providing information about, and consultancy on, the Ukrainian and EU bio fuel markets, renewable energies, energy efficiency, and cleaner fuel technologies for the political decision-makers on local, regional, national and international levels. We have conducted a number of researches and studies on the subject for our Ukrainian and foreign partners.

There is an increasing interest in the world in using bio fuels as a fossil energy alternative. The results of numerous international researches demonstrate that emissions from fossil energy should be reduced by 60-70% within the next fifty to sixty years; otherwise there will be serious environmental problems.

Apart from environmental impact of abating climate change, reducing waste emissions and improving air quality, the replacement of fossil fuels with bio fuels offers also other substantial benefits, such as diversification of energy sources, reduction of energy import dependence, support to rural economies by creating revenues and new job opportunities for the agricultural sector, opening up new potential export markets, etc.

The Decree of the President of Ukraine ¹1094 of 26.09.2003 «On measures on development of production of fuel from biological raw materials» defines the national policy of bio fuels development. The Decree promotes an increase in bio fuel production and consumption as one of the priorities in the agenda of for the Government of Ukraine.

Currently there is no industrial bio diesel production in Ukraine. However, there is a number of researches underway to study and assess possibilities of production and use of bio fuels, in particular, bio diesel, in Ukraine.

FGL Energy supports projects aimed at bio fuel development for the purpose of energy supply sources diversification and greenhouse gas emissions reduction. FGL Energy currently acts as a project developer for several bio fuel projects to be launched in Ukraine. Parallel to that, FGL Energy is developing a communication strategy program aimed at increasing awareness and promoting the alternative and renewable energy sources, including bio energy.
